Black Friday Marketing

It’s another time of year that we all look forward too, and it’s the perfect opportunity to stock up on presents whilst making some pretty hefty savings. You’ll see emails and adverts coming out weeks before to prepare you for the sales, hopefully gaining your interest on a product that you hope to track down on the day.

For a marketer you will be making a promotional plan to offer some discounts in return for a sale, but are Black Friday events and discounts suitable for all businesses?

It’s a tough question, it can have a massive impact on your business in terms of increasing sales and product interest, but if you’re a small business, don’t try and match the larger worldwide companies.

As a smaller business you might find a dip at certain time of the year, which will also depend on your industry and who your consumers are. But if it slows down toward the end of the year, why not take advantage of the Black Friday tradition and create some discounts, promotions or deals that will draw in a few extra customers.

You don’t have to offer huge discounts or go completely overboard, a good price with some good marketing will work a treat.

As part of your marketing plan you need to make sure you have promoted your Black Friday sale. A few weeks before you should start to drop some hints, with some eye-catching emails and social media posts. You don’t need to specify what the saving is just yet, just let your customer know you’re taking part and the interest should begin to build.

Using email marketing is a powerful tool. You’ll be able to keep in touch with your subscribers and keep them updated. As each email goes out, a great tip is to slowly reveal your Black Friday plans so new and existing customers are engaged and ready to check out what you have available on the day.

Remember, discounts aren’t for everyone, so alternatively you could offer a free gift. A great advertisement letting people know they can get a free gift with every order is a fantastic way to capture and generate new business. Who doesn’t love a free gift?

When posting your interesting content to social media platforms, make your posts go further by adding appropriate hashtags. Using hashtags such as #blackfriday and #blackfriday2019, you’ll be found by new viewers too, which allows you to extend your business and get the word out there.

Whether you choose to offer a free gift or discount, both options open up a new incentive for new and existing customers to shop with you. So, what’s next? Get planning the right deal for you and monitor the success – Good Luck!
